Control Issues
By Trent McCrow

I was destined to be a Star Wars fan! Today is the 30th Anniversary of the Star Wars story and communities around the globe will be celebrating all things Star Wars on this epic occasion. The month of May has always been important for Star Wars fans over the past three decades as each installment of the Saga we know and love has graced theater screens during this great month. But for me today, May 25, is more then a celebration of Star Wars it is also my 20th birthday! So you see, ten years after Star Wars was first released I was born into a world not here on earth, but in a galaxy far, far away. Today is also the 24th anniversary for the final movie in the Saga, Return of the Jedi, where our upcoming Battle of Endor expansion finds its roots.

The tale of the Skywalker family has been dear to us all for so long and for those of us who were around to see the originals in all their glory, I’m sure it brings a tear to your eye, not only celebrating something that has profoundly changed your life, but because you are really old now! :P

Control is one of the underlying themes in the Star Wars saga. Learning to control the Force is an ongoing journey for Luke Skywalker and it is something that only Jedi Master Yoda seems to have a grip on. But on the other end of the scale, control is something the Galactic Empire is on the verge mastering. Control of the Senate was achieved early in A New Hope and only the Rebellion remained, tainting the Emperor’s Imperial purity. As young Luke Skywalker battles to control his Force powers, he will soon have to face the same challenge his father faced, and failed. The allure of the Dark Side of the Force is strong in the darkness of Imperial control and Emperor Palpatine seeks to control the fate of the young Jedi as he did with his father Anakin Skywalker. Luke faces the ultimate battle, the battle against the mirror. Will he conquer the darkness within him or will he lose control and be corrupted by the darkness forever?

In the third Independent Development Committee (IDC) expansion, Battle of Endor, the fate of the galaxy is in your hands. The ultimate battle of good versus evil is about to begin. Far above, in the cold reaches of space, two Jedi fight to fulfill their destinies and one seeks to corrupt the galaxy with evil. This week I'll introduce you to the thirteenth card from the Battle of Endor (BOE) dream card expansion set developed by the Independent Development Committee (IDC).

To celebrate this momentous day (and because it is time to release another preview card! :P) I’ll be revealing the third card from the BOE expansion that deals with Corruption. So here is Complete your Training!

Control is a big issue in the SWTCG, the more units you control, the better chance you have of winning the game. Sometimes a spanner can be thrown into your plan when your opponent takes control of one of your units and uses it against you! Complete Your Training now offers a new slant on the control issue and by using the corruption counters from Palpatine and other sources, you can now take control of your opponents units as they slip deeper and deeper into the trap of deception the Dark Side offers.

Complete Your Training adds new depth to the corruption strategy and provides the Emperor with the tools he needs to spread his corruption into the hearts of the most pure. In the Battle of Endor, will you be able to keep control or will the corruption within you doom you to fall to your knees and submit to the power of the Dark Side?
