Behind the Cards: Cin Drallig
By Brian Weeks

Fall of the Republic introduced a number of popular figures from Revenge of the Sith. To provide a better understanding of these characters, we offer the following accounts - the histories behind the units in your deck.

Master of the Sword

"Violence is not the Jedi way."
- Cin Drallig to Darth Vader

"Trained by Jedi Master Yoda, Drallig was a legendary lightsaber instructor at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Though he was not a member of the Jedi Council, his swordsmanship likely rivaled that of many Council members. Other Jedi sometimes referred to him as "The Troll" in reference to his relentless training procedures and ferocious attack style. He instructed many Jedi in the art of lightsaber combat, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, although he trained Serra Keto as a personal apprentice. He specialized only in Forms one through six. Drallig made his home deep within the Jedi Temple and gave himself over completely to the will of the Living Force.

Near the end of the Clone Wars, his apprentice, Serra, was killed by Darth Vader during his purge of the Jedi Temple. Cin Drallig's dueling skills, as good as they may have been, were no match for Lord Vader's. Drallig was accompanied by two Padawans: Whie and Bene. They were holding up the clone troopers in the Room of a Thousand Fountains while the younger Padawans fled the building. Then, Vader appeared and first killed Whie, then Bene. Drallig attacked Vader, but Vader managed to outmaneuver him and slash through Master Drallig's shoulder. He then watched as the venerable Jedi Master dropped to the floor, dying. His murder was one of many witnessed by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda over the security holograms in the temple. At the time of his murder, Cin knew Vader as Anakin Skywalker, hero of the Republic.

Official records would say that Drallig was killed fighting Imperial agents." (This article is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. It uses material from the Wikia article "Cin Drallig".)

In the Fall of the Republic expansion, Cin's lightsaber instruction ability becomes apparent. If he is in the Character arena, he gives each of your Jedi Characters Parry 1. Parry X is the new ability released with FOTR and gives its bearer "When this unit is attacked, prevent 1 damage if the attacking unit rolls at least one natural 1."

At 7 build, 50 speed, 5 power, 4 health, Parry 1 and Pay 1 Force -> Evade 1, Cin can hold his own in the Character arena, but he really shines when added to a Jedi deck. Any of your high Evade Jedi Characters, such as Mace Windu (A) or Yoda (D) would benefit greatly from this ability. But you could also play one of my favorites, Dark Woman (A). Cheap build cost, cheap deflect and a cheap evade with Parry added, would help keep Dark Woman around for several rounds.

"Cin Drallig was played in Revenge of the Sith by Nick Gillard, who was stunt co-ordinator on all three films of the prequel trilogy, and a stuntman in A New Hope. The name "Cin Drallig" comes from reversing Nick Gillard's name. In the film he is seen only briefly in a holographic recording, however has a larger role in the Revenge of the Sith video game. For the sake of gameplay, Cin Drallig is more of a challenge for Vader in the game than in the film." (This article is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. He is married, has a three year old son, is an architect, has been the Treasurer and Newsletter Editor for five years for JediOKC (an Oklahoma City based Star Wars Fan Club), was the IDC Card Development Chairperson for "Fall of the Republic" and is now the IDC Public Affairs Chairperson. Despite all that, he still has time to introduce the game to new players…KEEP THE GAME ALIVE.
