Epic Star Wars Battles - Battle of Endor
by Trent McCrow

The Star Wars Trading Card Game is just that; a game. Sometimes it is easy to forget the "G" in SWTCG and we tend to focus our deck building and play style of the SWTCG on winning at all costs! Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with building decks to win. In fact I encourage you to do your best in this endeavor, but it is also important to have fun while playing the game. Even though I get great pleasure when I successfully build a deck that consistently wins, I get even more joy out of playing the game with my friends and by recreating some of the Epic Battles that took place in the Star Wars Universe!

What I'd like to do today is take a look at one of those Epic Battles. I want to show you how you can recreate some of the best moments from the movies and then play them with your TCG cards. What I have always liked about the SWTCG is the fact that you can fight in all three arenas: Space, Ground and Character. I also liked that the TCG also provides Missions and Battles for your units to complete as well as Equipment to fight with and Locations to do the fighting! The SWTCG is set up perfectly to reenact the Movies and I'll do my best to help you "Play, Love, Live the SWTCG!"

It is hard to believe that it has already been two entire weeks since the IDC released its defining expansion or the Star Wars Trading Card Game, Battle of Endor. The 180 card set has further developed the SWTCG in new ways and has helped expand the current meta-game by bringing some of the older cards back into play. But most importantly for me, the BOE expansion provided some more great cards that reflect key heroes and villains from the closing chapter in George Lucas' galactic sized masterpiece.

Unlike the Battle of Yavin, the Battle of Endor took place on all three fronts; in orbit around Endor where the Rebel fleet 'ambushed' the Second Death Star, on Endor's moon where the Ewoks helped their new family members take down the Shield Generator and in the Emperor's Throne room where Luke battles desperately to redeem is father from the Dark Side of the Force. The decks that follow will help you relive the epic conclusion to the Star Wars Saga as you fight the BATTLE OF ENDOR!

OK, so now that you have the decks, it is time to start the Epic Battle. For these Epic Battles you can just play the game as usual or you could go with the following fixed setup and then continue to play as normal. I suggest you try the fixed set up and see if your game mirrors what happens in the Battle of Endor or you might be surprised to find that the Death Star survives and crushes the Rebellion!

Fixed Setup - Dark Side (29 Build).
Character: Darth Vader (W) with Darth Vader's Lightsaber (B) equipped
Ground: Endor Bunker (A) & Stormtrooper Bunker Guard
Space: Death Star II (D) & Fel's TIE Interceptor (A)

Location: Throne Room Underworks

Once you have the Fixed Setup sorted then shuffle your deck and the Dark Side player gets 30 build points and then continues Setup as normal.

Fixed Setup - Light Side (32 Build).
Character: Luke Skywalker (T) with Luke Skywalker (S) stacked underneath
Ground: Ewok Militia & Luke's Speeder Bike (A)
Space: Alliance Assault Fleet with Admiral Ackbar (B) piloting

Location: Endor Battleground

Once you have the Fixed Setup sorted then shuffle your deck and the Light Side player gets 27 build points and then continues Setup as normal.

Enjoy reliving the Epic conclusion to the Star Wars Saga as you recreate the Star Wars story by playing with these two decks! Rewrite the Star Wars script as you see fit as you engage yourself in the BATTLE OF ENDOR!
