All Droid Units must be shut down immediately!
By: Derrik Rabenold

When the self-proclaimed Emperor (the secret Sith Lord, Sidious) told his new, far younger and more powerful apprentice, Darth Vader this command, it marked a change in the way wars would be fought in that Galaxy Far, Far Away. It heralded an age of clone armies and conscripts serving in the Imperial military throughout the domain of the Empire.

With the release of the Independant Development Committee's (IDC) Battle of Endor (BOE) Expansion Set, the IDC proves that it is not afraid of the WOTC’s expansions that have come before. In BOE the IDC wants to cycle some cards out of the metagame that have become deck ‘stables’ by using its assortment of Stealth units to make previously un-played cards popular again. One of these new cards is the Death Star II Ceremonial Legion.

A card made in the vein of WOTC's attempt to experiment with cards that are ‘stat boosted’ by other cards (such as their Death Star Battalion (which failed miserably, imo)), this card is just fun. Dark Side Imperial decks have now become all the rage with the most powerful of Imperials. Emperor Palpatine (G) can protect this unit from serious damage or allow it to soak up 5-6 damage. Then say hello to Imperial Misdirection, perhaps to an Endor Bunker (A) that has served its purpose.

And that is only the beginning. The Death Star II (D) is currently a staple in many Darkside decks. A card most LS players usually see in setup, it now not only grants the life saving +3bp off the roll for build, it now makes this Legion, one of the Emperor's best, comparable to that huge Trade Fed Droid that will only be killed quickly in a Clone Wars cartoon with Mace Windu, last son of Krypton. In short, well done Independent Development Committee, well done.

About the Author
Derrick J. Rabenold (aka Jedi Master DJR) has been playing the Star Wars Trading Card Game since he opened his Attack of the Clones starter box in July of 2002. Due to school and family obligations, he never had teh opportunity to play in a SWTCG qualifer before Wizards made their last expansion. Since October of 2002 however, he has been an active member of Rebelbasers. He has bought more cards then any shoebox could contain and has understood the meta through each expansion reasonably well. After a hiatus from Rebelbasers during the creation of the IDC, he later joined the IDC near the end of production for the Scum and Villiany expansion. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Rules Sub-Committee and is aspiring to understand the rulebook as well as JangoJay, RedNeckJedi, Corjay, and the other experts that have come before him.
