Scavenger Hunt Revealed
by Brian Weeks

During the past six weeks, the IDC held a Scavenger Hunt in preparation for the release of our fourth expansion: Republic At War. Three preview cards, each divided into six pieces, were scattered throughout the IDC website. Clues were given each week for where to find the pieces with prizes to be given for the correct guesses. Now that the guesses have be made and the winners announced, I will now share with you those cards in their completed state.

The first Scavenger Hunt card to be reviewed today is Underwater Tactics . This 2 build Mission card, as shown above, has the text "Each of your Aquatic units gets +2 power and Critical Hit 1 until end of turn." As discussed in today's Card of the Week, the Nos Monster can greatly benefit from this card. The first Aquatic units made their appearance in The Phantom Menace expansion. More have trickled in from past sets as well. Colo Claw Fish, Oevvaor Catamaran and Swamp Speeder are just a few Aquatic units that can benefit from this card. Underwater Tactics' benefits are fairly obvious and the fact that you can have more than four of these in your deck (or play more than one a turn), can turn the tide of a loosing game. Rest assured, there will be new Aquatic units released in Republic At War and they will benefit from this card.

Skywalker's Battle Forces (A) is the second Scavenger Hunt card to be discussed today. At 8/60/7/6 this is a great Space unit and well worth the price. While susceptible to Stealth units, if you have Anakin Skywalker in any arena it will gain +10 speed and "Pay 0 Force -> Evade 1." Because of its Jedi and Clone subtype, it has many card combos available to it . . . almost too many to list. Lower its build cost with Jedi Temple or Felucia Battle Grounds, give it a power boost with Lightsaber Gift or Clone Officer, and even prevent damage to it with Protection of the Master or Doing Their Job. The possibilities are endless. And, last, but not least, because of it's Fleet subtype, Admiral Ackbar (B) could pilot it and give it Shields 2 and "When the Space battle step begins, choose one of your opponent's units in the Space arena. Each of your Rebel units gets Critical Hit 2 as long as it's attacking that unit until end of turn."

The last card from the Scavenger Hunt was Obi-Wan Kenobi (R). This unit is just full of benefits. To start off with, Obi-Wan Kenobi (R) has multiple subtypes: Jedi, Republic, Clone, Officer; the possible card combination are limitless. Maybe Benefits of Leadership will finally see some play in an Jedi/Clone Officer deck. For 7/50/6/6, this is one abusing unit. He has Armor, provides his Clones with free evade and is also a Speeder and Squad Pilot. Base Guards, Delta Squad (A) and even Jabba's Guards could benefit from this Obi-Wan pilot. Then, if any of them are discarded while he his piloting them, Obi-Wan Kenobi (R) then moves to the Ground arena untapped, ready for another attack.

The three cards alone provide so much variety in deck types that many are anxious to see what the new set has to offer. Just a few more weeks until the official release of Republic At War and then all will be revealed. Until next time...
