STORM OF WAR

War! The Galaxy is in turmoil. Once peaceful planetary systems are now the frontlines in a war of epic proportions, a war that is redefining the history of the REPUBLIC. The storm of war, that once loomed on the horizon, is now raging with fierce intensity. For young ANAKIN SKYWALKER, war is the method of his training.

More and more systems slip from REPUBLIC control as COUNT DOOKU and the CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS wage war on multiple fronts. Trained in the art of war, the Republic’s new CLONE army march into battle led by their JEDI commanders. As the heat of war grows, so too does the prowess of one most gifted Jedi, ANAKIN SKYWALKER.

The latest batch of Clone troopers have arrived and are ready for immediate deployment. The Galaxy is your battleground. Take control of your troops. The Clone Wars are here; YOUR Republic is at War! YOU are in control. So pick up your weapon, join your troops on the field of battle, and enter the storm of war! CLONE WARS: REPUBLIC AT WAR is here! It’s time to finish the fight!

January 11, 2008 was one of the worst days for me this year. This was the date the Independent Development Committee’s fourth expansion Clone Wars: Republic At War was scheduled for release. When it passed I had to look back and find the reason why the IDC was so far behind schedule. CW:RAW had the least number of people working on it out of the 4 expansions the IDC has produced. It also had the biggest ambitions and goals planned for it. These two aspects of CW:RAW’s production have proven to be a bad combination. Luckily for the SWTCG community instead of releasing a lackluster set in a timely manner, the IDC decided that even with few numbers we would produce our best work!

Let’s fast-forward a little too where we are today. It’s April 4, 2008 and the biggest SWTCG release is here! The IDC started humbly back with FOTR with some spoiler articles, then in SAV we brought you the ‘You Make The Card’ series, and in last expansion, BOE, built on all the groundwork of FOTR and SAV and then took things to the next level with a spoof expansion (Battle For Endor) and the largest number of previews to date! CW:RAW blow the rest of the IDC expansions away!

The build up to CW:RAW, we started with a poll where you got to decide the name of the expansion and a hidden preview in the BOE PDF documents. CW:RAW has banners, wallpapers, promotional posters, preview cards, a jumbled puzzle, a scavenger hunt, a new subtype, and on top of that CW:RAW has two new Keyword abilities and the first ever unit to have unique versions in more than one arena! All these things have made the IDC’s fourth expansion, CW:RAW, the biggest SWTCG release in the IDC’s short history!

Republic At War, the IDC’s fourth and most ambitious expansion for the SWTCG, is set during the Clone Wars. Based on the award winning cartoon, Clone Wars Volume 1, this expansion focuses on some of the major battles early in the Clone Wars and Anakin Skywalker’s Skirmish with Asajj Ventress. The IDC took a huge risk developing an expansion that uses a cartoon as the sole source of card images, but now the expansion is here it looks as great, if not better then the IDC’s previous expansions.

In the Clone Wars: Republic At War expansion, the IDC has boldly gone forward and dived head first into Expanded Universe material. If this expansion proves successful look to the future for more Expanded Universe expansions based on the Clone Wars Cartoon, Clone Wars Animated Series and eventually the Live Action Star Wars TV show!

The wait is over! The Storm has come! Clone Wars: Republic At War is here!
FEAR. CONFLICT. DUTY. GLORY. CONTROL. POWER. DISCIPLINE.
