Battle Report - The
Storm
Battle Report By: Trent

Pre-battle Thoughts:
Shaun's Commentary
"Like fire, across the Galaxy, the Clone Wars
spread." - Yoda
Wow! I am about to play my first game using cards
from CW:RAW!
I don't know what to expect for this battle. I feel I have constructed
a pretty good self-supporting deck, though how good this will stand
against a Light Side CW:RAW deck is yet
to be seen.
I've pretty much outlined my plans in my deck
article, but I'll briefly go over it again.
I aim to get Darth
Tyranus(K), San
Hill (B) and either General
Grievous (F) or a Gladiator in Character - my main arena. In
Ground I want either IG
Lancer Droid Swoop or Separatist
Hailfire Droid and at least a unit with Ion Cannon. Space I
want Tyranus's
Solar Sailer (A) or an Asajj's Starfighter with either a starfighter
or Muunilinst
Gun Platform for support. I want to have InterGalacticBanking
Clan Headquarters deployed ASAP.
I look forward to saying "It would not be easy
to defeat a Sith." But yet again "Always in motion, the future is."
Let's see what round two will provide. Hopefully
this game I'll get to utilise San
Hill (B) and activate Fury to provide a more complete example
of what CW:RAW offers.

Trent's Commentary
I know I have a killer strategy and
a killer deck. Shaun and I had played one game prior to this, which
was originally intended to be the game used for this Battle report.
However I had not shuffled the deck and drew 3 copies of The
Coming Storm in a row during my setup which highlighted the
need to properly shuffle my deck. We still played the game and Grand
Admiral Shaun won convincingly. But the report you are about to
read is the true story of how things go down when Grand Admiral
Shaun and I play with CW:RAW cards only!
I can't wait to unleash my deck on
Grand Admiral Shaun and show him the rue power of the Republic!
A storm is coming and Grand Admiral Shaun is about to experience
the ferocity it contains!

Shaun's Commentary
I have San
Hill (B) out! Now I can unleash the financing power of the Separatists.
Again I have Darth
Tyranus(K) to search for my Dark Jedi units, the Droid Line
and Durge's Swoop in ground and a lone Muunilinst
Gun Platform in space. I'm pretty much set up for this game
as I have my build gain and drawing engines in place but the challenge
will be surviving the first turn - especially with the offensive
power of the Republic in ground and space.
Now I've just got to get reinforcements into the Space and Ground
arenas I'll have a much greater chance at weathering the coming
storm
Trent's Commentary
This is going to go much better than my first attempt and it looks
like I have shuffled my deck perfectly! Now we wait to see if this
deck wins in one or two turns!

Post Battle Thoughts
Shaun's post-battle Thoughts
"The IG Banking Clan has surrendered. The day was theirs.
The Republic has won!" - General Kenobi
Like the Battle of Muunilinst, the Separatist defences made a valiant
stand against the Republic's assault forces, but in the end they
were not enough to turn the tide. The
Coming Storm struck mercilessly allowing the Republic's space
forces led by Commander Skywalker himself to rain down from the
sky - almost literally. I made the mistake of focusing on my Dark
Jedi rather than my Space and Ground forces when I searched my deck
for Tyranus's
Solar Sailer (C) instead of Asajj's
Starfighter (B). It would have evened my odds when The
Coming Storm struck with Asajj's Starfighter.
A similar fate awaited my ground army, even though I fared better
in Ground than in Space. Again, if only I had 1 extra BP on my Chameleon
Droid Unit I could have Hidden Costed before the Ground
battle ended to contest the arena... so close but yet so far. Durge's
Swoop Bike (A) again failed to unleash the Fury of the
bounty hunter which disappointed me - I was looking forward to using
Fury
Again the gunships of the Republic swooped in and wreaked
havoc by destroying my Ground units.
On a bright note, I finally got a fight in the Character arena,
though Asajj
Ventress (B) and Darth
Tyranus(K) was more than a match for the young clone soldiers.
As Dooku said on Geonosis about the Clone army, "There
are too many
" - Count Dooku.
And so I have suffered a first turn defeat. In the end though my
deck was well crafted, the Light side had the faster combo units
which tipped the scales in the Republic's favour. Well done Trent
for defeating me so easily and I hope you have enjoyed this battle
report.
As always, May The Force Be With You!
Trent's post-battle Thoughts
Wow, that was exactly what I was planning to happen the first time
around! Thanks for the great game Shaun! I always enjoy our battles.
I hope the SWTCG community can get an idea of the potential of the
cards in this expansion! My die rolls were all good and I was really
excited when my Republic
Assault Fleet took out two of your Ground units! That was uber
kool!
It is always a pleasure to play you and I'm glad I finally got
another win against you! It was starting to get embarrassing!
Play. Love. Live!
