Vigilance
By the Second Revan

The slow stomps of AT-AT’s sound the Empire’s approach. It is already known that the Rebels have no hope to win, only escape. Today, victory will come from survival. General Rieeken orders more soldiers onto the Gallofree Transport, as he acknowledges Rogue Squadron leaving the base, towards battle. He silently mutters a prayer to the Force. They could be the only hope for the rebels on Hoth.

Welcome to the second preview card from the upcoming sixth IDC expansion, the Battle of Hoth. Today, our second BOH preview card is General Carlist Rieeken (B).

When you see this card, you can instantly see one possible use, Reserves. Sadly, it only works on Rebels, of which, only three currently have Reserves: Mon Mothma (C), General Crix Mandine (A) and Flurry (A). Mon Mothma (C) would be a waste of a unit to use this on, because she has poor stats. However, General Crix Mandine (A) and Flurry (A) have purposes, being able to fight normally.

However, when you start thinking, you can see other purposes. One thing that came to my mind was to fill your arenas with Stealth units. One problem with Stealth units is that they usually aren’t the best at attacking, a trade off for their amazing defensive abilities. With General Carlist Rieeken (B), you can have your Stealth units retreat instead, though, and be replaced by powerful offensive units, like Gold Squadron X-wing. Stealth has always been powerful, and now you can combine it with powerful offensive units. The Character arena would be difficult, as the strategy won’t work when General Carlist Rieeken (B) is out in the open, but the Jabba/Spirit combo should help out there.

However, trust me when I say that there is a card in the Battle of Hoth expansion that will make General Carlist Rieeken (B) much better. I’d like to tell you what it is, however I’ll say this instead. Happy hunting for it.
