Millennium Falcon (E)
By Brian Weeks

Friday, May 25th, 2007

The card of the week this week, the Millennium Falcon (E), is a favorite of mine from one of my favorite WOTC expansions, the Empire Strikes Back.

I won't bore you with the stats. Most TCG players are familiar with this unit. But the one static ability I will mention is the one that makes this unit viable in potential Battle of Endor decks

The stat reads: "The Millennium Falcon may attack a unit in the Character arena instead of a unit in the Space arena." With new methods of attacking units across arenas, such as the previewed Hold-Out Blaster and Chewbacca's Crossbow (A), we may be seeing a new meta-strategy in the works.By using stall cards in one arena where your units are low and then attacking that arena from an adjacent arena, a better control deck could be created.

We may just be seeing more cross-arena action in the future. We'll just have to wait and see what develops.

Chewbacca (I)
By Trent McCrow

The card of the week this week is going to tie in with the BOE preview released this weekend. One of the most powerful Rebels that WOTC gave us is Chewbacca (I). Chewie is most famous for his role as co-pilot of the legendary Millennium Falcon and his undying loyalty to Han Solo. But where Chewie's strength lies is in his heritage and is rooted in his culture as a Wookiee. His greatest asset, in a TCG sence, is his retalitation!

For 9 build this version of Chewbacca is a tank with solid stats of 40/7/8 making him not only a great card on his own but a true powerhouse when stacked to the full. A Rebel and a Wookiee, Chewbacca is able to benefit from all the Rebel boosters as well as hold on to the ability most Wookiees have but few Rebels do...Retaliate.

Chewbacca (I) introduced the first auto-Retaliate ability where Chewie gets to retaliate with X dice of damage (where X is equal to his current power). But not only that, if his Retaliate causes a unit (in any zone) to be discarded you can untap the mighty Chewbacca.

This is by far the most powerful Retaliate ability in the game. How it is worded on the card, as a Retaliate "attack", was way to powerful and thankfully WOTC cleared up that issue. But when Chewie is used with the new BOE preview, Chewbacca's Crossbow (A), his ability to untap will come in handy giving him another shot at either the Ground or Character arena!

That is why Chewbacca (I) is the IDC's card of the week!

Princess Leia (G)
By Brian Weeks

Many of the cards released in the Rogues and Scoundrels expansion made a definite impact on the TCG, but none like Princess Leia (G). And because she is a Rebel and a Pilot, this card could possibly make a comeback when the IDC expansion, Battle of Endor is released.

As Princess Leia cards go, it pretty average. 5 Build, 50 Speed, 4 Power and 4 Health would make one normally look past this card. But it's abilities make it deserve a second glance.

Whenever she's in the Character arena, she prevents all damage to any of your Smugglers and takes one damage to herself.

But, as a Transport Pilot in the Space arena (fitting perfectly on any of the Millennium Falcon's), she can gain you +3 build after the Build roll. Many a Pilot deck has been centered around this excellent card. It's a great and unforgiving Build engine.

So, with the possiblity of more Falcon's, Solo's and Calrissian's, keep this card in mind when creating new decks from the Battle of Endor expansion.

Coruscant Shuttle
By Varaka

Of the many cards produced by Wizards of The Coast with the release of ROTS, there are several that stand out. One of them, is the Coruscant Shuttle.

This rare Ground unit is a Light Side card with 40 Speed, 3 Power, and 3 Health for 4 build counters. It has a Jedi speeder subtype, and has the damage prevention ability of Pay 1 Force --> Evade 1.

While not a supremely powerful unit, the Coruscant Shuttle has a very useful ability. When you deploy it, you may search your deck for a Jedi card, show it to your opponent, put it in your hand, and then shuffle your deck. This ability can spell certain doom for your opponents, especially if your deck consists mainly of Jedi units. For a perfect example, see Ketricel's "The Chosen One" deck, in which the Coruscant Shuttle is used to great effect.

The card's ability isn't limited to any arena, which makes it easy to fish forunits like Jedi starfighters, Jedi characters, or even more Coruscant Shuttles to fill your hand and reinforce your ground and space arenas.

With such versatility, why not try fitting a few Coruscant Shuttles into your Jedi themed decks and see how it goes?
