Qui-Gon Jinn (C)
By C.J. Williams

Friday, April 24th, 2009

This week's preview article featured two wonderful cards from the upcoming Invasion of Naboo set. Oh what a beautiful card a quad-stacked Qui-Gon Jinn (C) could prove to be with Qui-Gon Jinn's Lightsaber (A). In the best deck I ever made, appropriately a Diplomat deck, I put emphasis on Qui-Gon's untap ability and Ketricel spent 3 hours trying to demolish Qui-Gon (I controlled Space and he controlled Ground). Of course it didn't take him but one night to figure out how to counter it and I never beat him again.

But with Qui-Gon (C)'s Intercept ability, such a strategy could return with the help of Qui-Gon Jinn's Lightsaber (A). His stats now become 70/8/10 with Pay 2 Force -> Evade 1, Pay 1 Force -> Intercept, Pay 4 Force -> Untap Qui-Gon, and Pay 2 Force -> Deflect 1 to Character or Space, all for reasonable cost. Now you have the chance to Intercept and then Deflect to the Ground arena! Would it not be even cooler if he could reduce some of those Force costs?

Along with his extra health and a full stack, you can be sure that we will be seeing a lot more of Qui-Gon's "C" version among others. Besides Diplomat decks, we will no doubt see Qui-Gon at the top of the food chain in new Jedi decks as well, defending and deflecting his way to favored status for the first time in the game's history. But then, wouldn't it be nice to be able to stack him just a little more than that . . . ?

Han's Strike Team (A)
By Brian Weeks

Friday, April 10th, 2009

This weeks Card Of The Week, Han's Strike Team (A) , is from the Battle of Endor expansion and has some great possibilities for your decks that will utilize this week's preview cards, Security Detail and Coruscant Guard Squad.

At 7/40/5/5, Han's Strike Team (A) appears to be overpriced. But it's value comes from it's three abilities. They read:
"When the battle phase starts, choose a subtype: Smuggler, Diplomat, Wookiee, or Jedi. Treat Han's Strike Team as the chosen subtype until end of turn.
Lucky 3
As long as Han Solo is in the Character arena, Han's Strike Team gets Stealth.
"

All three are pretty good, but the first one is the ability that gives this unit it's variety. And, by chosing its subtype to be a Diplomat, it can take advantage of all Diplomat bonuses from other cards in your deck. Damage prevention, Force Denial, Force Gain...the possibilities are endless with this card. And the Intercepting ability of Security Detail, Han's Strike Team (A) can stick around for quite a while.

Check into Han's Strike Team (A) and check into all the other Diplomat card types that it can utilize. Until next time!
