Preservation of Democracy
By Brian Weeks

Friday, January 30th, 2009

This weeks Card Of The Week, Preservation of Democracy, ties in with this week's previewed card, Senatorial Shuttle. There are many combos made available with this week's preview card and this is just one of them.

Preservation of Democracy's text reads "Tap one of your untapped Diplomats and pay 3 Force -> Choose an arena. Prevent all damage done by units in that arena until end of turn. Play only before any unit in that arena attacks." With this card, you could play it on Senatorial Shuttle, tap the Shuttle (because of it's Diplomat subtype) and prevent all damage in one of your arena's. You may be thinking, "Duh...that's what the text says.", but what you may not realize is that Senatorial Shuttle can still use it's ability.

Even if it's tapped, you could still retreat Senatorial Shuttle and prevent 2 damage to a Diplomat. And...with all this damage prevention going on, you might as well get something in addition to the prevention. Throw in Yoda (H) and gain 1 Force for each unit of damage prevented.

Captain Panaka (A)
By Brian Weeks

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Now that the first Naboo units from the Invasion of Naboo expansion have been revealed, players must dust off their old Naboo decks and start looking for new (and old) strategies. One card that will surely be in every new Naboo deck is the ever faithful, Captain Panaka (A).

Captain Panaka (A)'s text reads "Each of your Naboo units gets Stun 2 and "Pay 0 Force -> Retaliate 2."" If you play this with the newly previewed Royal N-1 Starfighter, it would be preventing damage to itself, but hitting back for two.! Pair up Captain Panaka (A) with a Naboo Diplomat, and now your Royal N-1 Starfighter's are rolling with +1 power and have +1 health and your Diplomat also has free Retaliate 2 and Stun 2. Throw Ric Olie (A) on the new Bravo One (A) and now it has Lucky 2, Stun 2, Retaliate 2 and gives all your Naboo starfighters +X power with Bravo One (A)'s ability.

There are sure to be even more new Naboo units in the newest IDC expansion, so the future Naboo combos are, at the moment, unimaginable. But, I imagine they'll be even better than the ones I've mentioned here. While development of the new set continues, feel free to post your own Naboo combos in the Rebelbasers forums.
