Rebel Gunner

The Star Wars Trading Card Game (SWTCG) has over 2000 cards within the game. With the help of the Independent Development Committee (IDC) that number keeps on going up. With so many cards making so many combos it is sometimes hard to pick a card to feature because there are so many great cards in the SWTCG.

The SWTCG has three main commodities in it; Cards, Build and the Force. Usually whoever has the most (or denies their opponent the most) of these resources wins the game. The IDC's Card of the Week is great because it helps with two of these valuable resources.

Rebel Gunner is a 4 build 30/3/3 Rebel Officer from the Battle of Hoth Expansion. He is not to shabby when compared to other Officers within the Rebel Subtype, but like most of our Card's of the Week the true power comes with the game text.

When you deploy Rebel Gunner, each of your Battle Cards cost 1 less Force to play until the need of the turn you deployed Rebel Gunner. This is a great ability and when played alongside Cloud City Battlegrounds you can save a lot of Force which may give you the upper hand.

Rebel Gunner has a second ability and this ability may produce the winning move in the game. For the cost of 2 Force, you may reveal Rebel Gunner from your hand and search you deck for any Light Side Battle card. With this ability Rebel Gunner helps you get the cards you need into your hand.

Any card that can help you with the 3 essential resources of the SWTCG is a card you should consider for your deck. Rebel Gunner has got your Force and card advantage covered and that is why it is our Card of the Week!

Weapon Turret

The Independent Development Committee's (IDC) last Card of the Week focused on how the latest unit type (Multi-Arena units) has expanded the way the Star Wars Trading Card Game (SWTCG) is played. This week we are continuing with the theme of multiple arena attacks as our Card of the Week is one of Battle of Hoth's (BOH) Equipment cards.

As we mentioned last week the 'crossfire' strategy has been in place since the dawning of the SWTCG when Wizards of the Coast produced its first expansion Attack of the Clones. Now thanks to the IDC the ability to attack another arena is available to every unit in the game by using the BOH equipment card Weapon Turret.

Weapon Turret is a Neutral Equipment card that grants its effect to all three arenas. To get this bonus you must pay 2 build points and Equip this card to a unit of your choosing (there is no build cost for this card). For the low cost of 2 build points your Equipped unit will get "This unit may attack a unit in another arena instead of this arena with 3 power plus any other effects."

The ability to attack another arena while occupying another one is invaluable in the SWTCG. This equipment cards gives every unit in the game the opportunity to do that. Characters will for the first time be able to attack units in the Space arena if they have this equipment card attached to them.

This card is the most influential Equipment card to date and is the perfect addition to every deck for obvious reasons, that is why Weapon Turret is our Card of the Week!
